On Tuesday, January 28, girls basketball faced off against its rival, Bexley, Lions, and honored its seniors, Alek B. and Abby S. Kendall O. had a hot start with a deep three to give the Vikes the lead. But the Lions tallied four points off two fast break layups. Kyndal S. fought for an and-one, followed by a layup, giving the Vikes a three-point lead, after a Vikings stop her ran her down the court and tailed another layup extending the lead to five. Katie N. stole the ball with ten seconds left and finished with a layup, giving the team a seven-point lead. The Vikes  took control in the second half with a score from Kyndal. The Vikings began to take their foot off the gas, letting the lions cut the lead to four points, while the Vikes only put up six all off of Kyndal, ending the half 22-17. Coming out of the half, the Vikes started red hot with a three from Caroline M. and a layup from Kyndal, forcing the Lions to take a time out before the Vikings could do anymore damage. After, the Vikes picked up were they left off with a mid range score from Katie and limited the Lions to four points in the third , extending their lead to 11. In the fourth, both teams traded shots, giving the Lions little hope to pull off a comeback. After a score by Kyndal, an intentional foul was granted on one of the Lions, giving her two free throws and demoralizing the Lions. The Vikings held their lead and claimed the win.

The Vikings traveled to Buckeye Valley on Thursday, January 30, to face off against the Barons, who from the start were unstoppable, getting score after score on offense and ending with 25-6. The Vikes failed to get out of the hole they had dug themselves in the first quarter, losing 56-21. Leading scorers were Kendall O. with 6 and Morgan S. with 8.

The Vikings played Worthington Christian, to whom they had previously lost to 60-45. That night, the Vikes looked like a new team, shutting down the Warriors offensively, limiting them to 26 total points compared to the 25 they let up last week in just the first quarter. The Vikes cruised to a 42-26 upset . 

The Vikings next game is against the Buckeye Valley Barons on Tuesday, February 4.
