Once a year in our Morris Art Gallery, students’ artwork is displayed across the walls and tables in a variety of mediums, as bowls, drawings, and photographs, sculpture and paintings showcase the talented artists ranging from our pre-k to seniors.
The art show is put up once a year, typically in late October or early November, and stays up through winter break, with the senior-only show in the spring. The process of deciding what art to display begins with the art teachers choosing their favorite pieces. Then they decide which of the pieces best highlight the work of the CA art classes. Mr. Block describes the art chosen as, “a representation of what the students have done so far in the year.” The teachers often put up the pieces themselves, but they are always looking for more student involvement with the gallery. This annual tradition not only celebrates the creativity and hard work of Columbus Academy students but also offers a glimpse into the diverse artwork students produce throughout all the grades.
