The CA football team trounced the Worthington Christian Warriors on Thursday, October 10, with a dominating 52-7 win following a stellar offensive and defensive display of force, putting the Vikings 8-0 for the season.
Joey G. kickstarted the beatdown with a rushing touchdown from 2 yards out, giving the Vikes the early lead. A Worthington Christian fumble ensued, giving Academy possession once again on a short field. Charlie R. capitalized with a 20-yard receiving touchdown from Cole S. as the Vikings began to pull away. Following another failed Warrior offensive possession, Cole scored a touchdown of his own, breaking tackles and sprinting into the endzone from 35 yards out. The offensive dominance never yielded, as the Vikings followed up with another rushing touchdown, this time by Griffin B., bringing the half to an end 31-0 in favor of the Vikes.
Academy found its footing right away coming from the break, setting up Gabe D-R. for a long rushing touchdown, putting the game out of reach for the Warriors. MJ J. got his turn in the spotlight after intercepting a Warrior pass and returning it for a big-man pick six, bringing the Vikes up 45-0 in the fourth. In danger of being held to a scoreless half, the Warriors finally found a score with an 8-yard touchdown run. Academy’s Parker S. capped off the game with one more rushing touchdown on the last drive of the game, ending the beatdown 52-7.
The Vikings will host the 6-3 Buckeye Valley Barons on Friday, October 18, for their last home game of the regular season.
