Girls Tennis Advances to States

The girls tennis team dominated at Sectionals, Part I on Tuesday, October 1, then faced the CSG Unicorns in districts to advance to states on Friday, October 4. Sectionals, Part II was on Saturday, October 5. Most of the team qualified for individual districts. 

Sectionals, Part I was a breeze for the Vikes as they cruised past their opponents, allowing every player to advance to Sectionals, Part II. Ella T. crushed both her opponents from Wellington and Buckeye Valley 6-0, 6-0. Audrey L. won against both her Wellington matchup 6-2, 6-2 as well as Grandview 6-0, 6-0. Mary P. and Lara W. beat Madison Christian 6-0, 6-0 and Jonathan Alder 6-0, 6-1. Tamanna A. and Sophie W. won against their opponents from Madison Christian and London in 6-0, 6-0 blowouts. Gabrielle S. also won both her matches 6-0, 6-0 against Buckeye Valley and Grandview. 

The team beat the CSG Unicorns 3-0, making the Vikes district champs and state bound. Tamanna won 6-2, 7-6 in second singles. Mary and Sophie won 6-1, 6-1 in first doubles while Audrey and Lara won 2-6, 6-2, 6-3 in a tight three-set match in second doubles. 

Doubles teams Mary and Lara as well as Tamanna and Sophie advanced to individual districts after their victories over Jonothan Alder and Wellington. Mary and Lara beat Wellington 6-1, 6-1. Tamanna and Sophie beat Jonathan Alder 6-0, 6-0. The two teams also played each other, with Tamanna and Sophie winning 6-1, 2-6, 6-3. Gabrielle and Ella also qualified for districts in singles. Gabrielle beat Buckeye Valley 6-0, 6-0, and beat Ella 6-4, 6-4.

The next matches for the Vikes will be districts on Tuesday, October 8, at home.
