Field hockey had a stellar week, winning two games and tying another. Academy is now 10-1-1 on the year, including 5-0 in conference play.

The Vikes began the week with an easy matchup against Lancaster High School. The team won 5-0, with goals from Bebe S., Alicia L., Maren S., Molly F., and Katie N.

Academy was back in action on Thursday, September 19, against Thomas Worthington. The Cardinals are among the top ranked teams in the nation, making this a key matchup for the Vikes. The Cardinals seemed to dominate the game, maintaining possession of the ball for the majority of the contest. They outshot the Vikes with 40 shots on goal to Academy’s 1. However, a standout performance by goalkeeper Sydney L. helped the Vikes escape the contest with a 0-0 tie.

The Vikes had one more matchup before the weekend could start, welcoming Olentangy to Carlin for an early Saturday morning contest. The Vikes won 3-0, with goals from Bradyn C., Sophia S., and Katie B.

Looking ahead to next week, the Vikes host CSG on Tuesday, September 24, for Senior Night. On Friday, they travel to Shaker Heights to take on the Red Raiders. They then have a quick turnaround, traveling to Hathaway Brown early Saturday morning, September 25.
