Both track teams traveled to Westerville South for the District Championships this past week. The boys claimed 77 points to earn third-place honors. The girls matched with the bronze with a total of 71 points.
Zoya A. broke the school record for the 100m hurdles with 16.29 seconds, which beat the record she previously set last year at 16.60 seconds.
The girls 4×100 relay team also crushed their record twice, first on Wednesday in qualifiers with 51.66 seconds and then again on Saturday with 51.11 seconds, with the team of Alli K., Irena A., Caitlynn H., and Mila B.
Not to be outdone, Alli K., Mila B., and Morgan S. were district champions in the high jump, 100m dash, and the 400m race.
Brian A. took home District runner-up in discus.
The boys saw athletes across six races advance to the finals on Saturday. Brian A., Caden I., Cole S., Dane C., Elliott S., Gabe D-R., Patrick F. The 4x200m and the 4x400m advance to regionals by placing in the top four in their respective events.
The girls saw athletes from nine events. Eleven racers moved on to the regionals: Alli K., Mila B. in three events, Morgan S. in two, and Zoya A. in three, 4x100m, and the 4x400m.
The team will go to Lexington on May 23 and 25 for regionals.
