Track Falls Short against Bishop Watterson, Stays Steady at Fredericktown

The boys and girls track and field teams fell short Wednesday in a dual against Bishop Watterson. They both fought back as the boys placed 5th and the girls took 2nd in Fredericktown on Friday.

Led by Charlie B., Dane C., MJ J., and the 4x800m relay, these were the only ones to take down the Eagles completely. Charlie B. won in a photo finish by 0.05 seconds. The team had a multitude of second-place finishers with Ayden N., Cody H., Dillan R., Gabe A., Gabe D-R., Max B., Michael M., and the second 4x800m taking home silver medals. Carson J., Chris H., Scott A., and the 4x400m all took bronzes .

The girls had five first-place finishers: Zoya A., Mila B., Eleanor S., Morgan S., and Clara S. Morgan S. had the closest victory with a winning time of 1:02.07 in the 400m. It was barely enough to hold off the Eagles as they lost with a time of 1:02.11. Alisha A., Caitlynn H., and Ella L. were the only ones to get silver. Zoya A., Allison C., Ella L., Liendsey L., and Morgan S.rounded out the scoring for the Vikings against the Eagles.

In Friday’s meet, Dane C. was the sole winner for the boys in the 3200m with a time of 10:01.14. Charlie B., MJ J., and the 4x800m all took second to round out podium finishes. Patrick F. took home fourth,  just 0.33 seconds off from the podium in the 400m.

The girls were more dominant with Alli K., Mila B., Morgan S., 4x200m, and the 4x400m all taking gold. Mila B., Morgan S., Zoya A., and the 4×100 all secured second. Ella L. and Morgan S. rounded out the scoring for the Vikings to place third. Morgan S. was on all spots of the podium with three podium visits in three events, taking first in the 400m, second in the high jump, and third in the 200m. Zoya A. placed second in two different hurdles events, with Ella L. following her in third for both.

The Vikings return to action next week on Thursday, May 2, at Worthington Christian before traveling to Cardington for the Gilead Christian Invitational on Saturday.
