On Wednesday, April 11, seniors attenede multiple talks to get them ready for college, as the class of 2024 signed in and gathered in the Dining Hall.

The day began with a lecture from a Franklin County juvenile attorney, Irene Knapp, who created a presentation educating the students on the differences between being charged as a child versus an adult. The hour-long talk warned against the punishments for various crimes and felonies.

Following the first lecture, the kindergartens lightened the mood as they greeted their senior buddies. The room filled with smiles and laughter, as the kindergarteners rushed to get in line for the treats. Offers included juices, fruit, scones, bagels, and Danishes.

After the kindergartens returned to their classrooms, the seniors attende to the school counselors, who deliver a message from the One Love Foundation to educate and raise awareness about relationship abuse and to honor the tragic death of Yeardley Love, before which each student received a folder with informational sheets ranging from how to break up with someone, signs of toxic relationships, and a list of helplines, introduced bt Ms. Brooks, Ms. Dillon, Ms. Hines, and Dr. Ritter, who folloed with a 45-minute film, Escalation, about college students in an abusive relationship that ends tragically.

As the film stirred up many emotions in the students, the teachers filtered the students into four different discussion groups, each led by one of the counselors and another teacher moderator to answer questions about what the movie’s characters in the movie, what seniors learned how these facts could be used in their real livess.
