Concluding its regular season on Monday, February 12, girls basketball sits with a five-loss streak. The girls have a 32% win rate, a 7-15 overall record, and are sixth out of eight in the conference. Their opponent, Buckeye Valley, on the other hand, has a 91% win rate, a 20-2 record, and is first in the conference.
The statistics were not in the Vikings’ favor, and indeed, the girls fell 19-56. In quarter one, the Barons tallied a 4-15 lead, and their 17 points in contrast to the Vikes’ 6 in quarter two increased the gap. With the score reading 10-32 going into the second half, the Vikings scored 7 points in the third quarter while the Barons shot 15. Buckeye Valley outscored the Vikes with four times more points in quarter four, delivering a 19-56 blow.
Girls basketball faces an uncertain postseason as they travel to Worthington Christian for sectionals on Tuesday, February 20.
