Boys basketball continued their dominance by tacking on three wins to their season total, including a conference win over Bishop Ready. This keeps the Vikes at first place in the conference. They also advanced to 6th place in the state in Division III.
The team started the week out welcoming Bishop Ready to “The Mack.” It was a back-and-forth game, but the Vikes pulled away in the end to beat the Silver Knights 49-43. Jason S. scored a team-high of 19 points. Theo F. followed with 14 points.
Next on the schedule was Columbus International. The team got off to a strong start and had rested their starters by halftime. They steamrolled through the second half, winning 69-23. Every player who dressed for the game finished with a bucket.
The Vikings ended the week by traveling to Kipp. Following a rocky start to the season, the Jaguars had started to find their footing. However, they were no match for Academy, who beat them 47-18.
The Vikes have now won six straight games, including four conference wins.
The team plays Buckeye Valley at home this Friday, February 9. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 pm. It is Senior Night, so everyone should come out to support Scott R., the team’s lone senior.
