Boys basketball captured a huge rivalry win over Bexley last Friday, making them 2-0 against the Lions this season. This win keeps the Vikings in first place in the conference and gives them a two- game lead over Worthington Christian. The Lions, now 4-10 on the season, continue to struggle in conference play.
The first half was a low scoring ordeal with Bexley leading 14-12 at the break. The Vikes came into the third quarter strong as junior MJ J. hit a quick three to put Academy up one. The rest of the quarter went back and forth between the teams. The Vikes held the lead with three seconds left in the quarter, but the Lions managed to grab a rebound and cash a half court bomb to go up 31-30 heading into the fourth.
Academy then dominated the fourth quarter, out scoring the Lions 20-7 enroute to a 50-38 victory. Led by junior Theo F. with 16 points and sophomore Jason S who also had 16 points, the Vikes three three-pointers in the second half.
