After losing three times last week, girls basketball sits 5-10 overall and sixth in the conference. The girls played games every other day, facing Bishop Ready, Harvest Prep, and Columbus School for Girls.

First, the Vikings battled the Silver Knights on Tuesday, January 23, losing 34-45. They traveled to Harvest Prep on Thursday, January 25, and suffered a 29-point loss, falling at 28-67.

Hoping for a win, the girls faced CSG on Saturday, January 27, displaying a strong second half. Kendall O. shot the first two baskets to give the Vikes a 5-3 lead, but it did not last. The Unicorns led 5-11 by the end of the first quarter and increased the gap to 11-23 by quarter two.

Academy remained determined and almost tripled its score in the second half. Three points apiece from Eleanor S. and Abby S., along with contributions from Alison C. and Mmesoma N. in the third quarter brought the score to 20-32. Kendall made a three-pointer and added 8 points in the final quarter, decreasing Academy’s disadvantage. Still, the Unicorns defeated the Vikings 31-36, marking the girls’ tenth loss of the season.

The team will tackle three more games, traveling to Dublin Scioto on Tuesday, January 30, before hosting competitors on two consecutive days. The Vikes play Grove City Christian on Thursday, February 1, and Buckeye Valley on Friday, February 2.
