On Friday, January 26 and Saturday, January 27, the girls wrestling team competed in the Iron Maiden Tournament at Bellefontaine.

Both Nina K. and Ceci R. battled their way to the top of their sections: Nina placed 1st in the 135-pound weight class, and Ceci came 2nd in the 105-pound weight class. This tournament is the latest in a long string of podium finishes for the girls this season. 

For boys wrestling, the week was another one with losses, especially with Parker K. and Philip N. absent from the team. At Hamilton Township on Thursday, January 25, only Akshaj J. (138-pound section) and Ryan L. (heavyweight section) won their matches. On Saturday, CA traveled to Utica for the Mike Garven Wrestling Classic, in which no Viking placed. The team finished 11th out of 12 competing schools. A bright spot was Neel R. earning his first victory.

Academy’s wrestling teams will host Johnstown-Monroe on Wednesday, January 31 at 5:00 p.m. for Senior Night.
