One would expect nothing less from a Quentin Tarantino film than an equal balance of  violence and comedy.  In Django Unchained, however, Tarantino  takes this stereotypical genre to a gory level that pushes social acceptability. The film stars Jamie Foxx, Christoph Waltz, and Leonardo DiCaprio.

 
Django, a slave who is bought and freed by a bounty hunting dentist, Dr. King Shultz, takes Django to find his wife, Broomhildia, from whom he was separated when they were both sold. They look for her at the biggest cotton plantation in the deep South, Candy Land. Broomhilda’s owner is Calvin Candy who sets her selling price for at 12,000 dollars because he suspects Django and she know each other.

Django Unchained is comic yet disturbing. It combines heavy, serious topics like slavery with a humorous air to it. This has resulted in much controversy aboout this film. Some say he is pushing social boundaries because of the casual use and frequency of the “n” word, or because of the umsympathetic attitude toward death, pain, and racism.

Although there is negativity associated with this cinema, the cast exposes viewers to monstrosities that use to happen in the South. This film is  unchained and raw with nothing sheltered.
