The Aquavikes competed at the St. Charles Showdown against 10 other schools on Saturday, December 9, before hosting a meet on Friday, December 15.
At their invitational, the girls won four golds and five silvers for 195 points, putting them 100 points behind first-place Saint Ursula. The boys placed fourth with 168 points, capturing one gold, two silver, and one bronze medal.
Maddie E. and Olivia L. gained two individual golds in the 50 breast and 100 IM, swimming 33.67 and 1:02.23, respectively. A 1:42.61 from the 200 free relay and 1:55.55 from the 200 medley relay placed them both first. Lillian B. finished second in the 100 free and the 100 breast with times of 55.49 and 1:14.46, respectively. Olivia L. and Ella L. also captured two second-place finishes in the 100 fly and 50 free with 1:01.19 and 27.06, respectively.
For the boys, William H. secured the sole gold medal in the 100 breast with 1:01.32 and tallied a silver with his 48.06 in the 100 free. Other notable performances were William D.’s second-place 28.91 in the 50 breast and Andy L.’s 50.33 for third in the 100 free.
The Aquavikes returned to action on Friday, December 15, hosting Pickerington North and Bexley.
Olivia L. captured two golds, swimming 2:14.14 in the 200 IM and 1:11.91 in the 100 breast. Lillian B. surged to first with 1:01.45 in the 100 fly and the 200 free relay team followed suit with 1:43.32. Maddie E. secured two second-place finishes in the 50 free and 100 free, clocking in at 29.08 and 57.82, respectively. A time of 1:14.40 by Clara S. shattered her personal record and achieved third in 100 back, while Ella L.’s 5:49.65 in the 500 free secured bronze as well.
The boys nabbed several podium finishes in each event. Andy L. won two golds with a 1:53.09 season’s best 200 free and 5:29.85 in the 500 free. William H.’s 2:01.08 in the 200 IM secured first, while his 22.73 in the 50 free was just 0.24 seconds behind the winner. William D. nabbed the final individual win with 1:03.66 in the 100 breast. Other notable finishes include Mircea B.’s 1:00.48 in the 100 fly and Dorian B.’s 6:57.72 in the 500 free. The 400 free relay achieved gold with 3:58.44, while the 200 medley and 200 free relays came in second with times of 1:45.47 and 1:35.95, respectively.
After two successful meets, the Vikings host Gahanna Lincoln on Friday, December 22 at 5:00 p.m. for their final competition of 2023.
