Columbus Academy hosted its girls tennis district tournament on Wednesday, October 11 and Saturday, October 14. Tamanna A., Yasemin B. & Arya C., and Grace P. & Sophie W. advanced to the state tournament.
In the singles draw, Tamanna came runner-up. She triumphed in her first match 6-3, 6-2 and had similar success in the next round, winning 6-0, 6-1. She could not keep up in the finals match, losing 6-0, 6-0.
In the doubles draw, Yasemin & Arya trounced their way to first place. They swept through the first two rounds with 6-0, 6-0 matches in each, and they won 6-3, 6-4 in the finals. Grace & Sophie went 6-0, 6-0 and 6-0, 6-3 in their two matches before ultimately losing to teammates Yasemin & Arya.
The girls compete at states on October 19-20.
