On September 8, students and faculty delighted in receiving yearbooks chronicling the 2022-2023 school year across more than 300 pages. The yearbook staff distributed the books at the back of the theater during Block 4 and lunch. Students poured over the entries in the dining hall, lounges, and the library. I loved flipping through the pages and reminiscing over one of the best years I’ve had at this school since coming in 7th grade. It won’t be long before I’ll have my own senior dedication page (and superlative) along with the class of 24’.
To ensure this tradition continued, the yearbook staff, led by Ms. Popelka, planned themes, acquired photos, and captured hundreds of moments. They designed layouts and styled textboxes with various fonts. Staff members met during Block 4 twice in a letter-day rotation, and editors met three times. Last year’s editors Alli S., Arman A., and Katie W. dedicated the yearbook to their former advisor, Ms. Miller, during the 2023 Honors Assembly.
For this year’s theme, the staff chose the “23 and We,” a play on the DNA testing company 23 and Me. The staff realized that many parts of what make CA such a great place, such as student-led organizations, affinity groups, and clubs did not receive enough representation in past editions and decided to highlight these activities that build our community and forge the relationships among students, teachers, staff, and faculty.
New yearbook editors Alivia S., Claire S., Izzy M. , Lauren G., Stella L. and their advisor, Upper School librarian Ms. Popelka, are excited to catalog even more memories for the 2023-2024 school year. “We have a hardworking staff and a great group of seniors! We are looking forward to a great year and we have lots of awesome things planned,” says senior editor Lauren.
