Starting the season with a 1-0 record, field hockey traveled to Granville to face off against the Blue Aces on Monday, August 28. Finishing the first period with a 1-0 advantage, the Vikes worked to maintain their close lead. The offense strung together passes, creating the opportunity for 2 more goals against the opponent. With its strong defensive line, saves from goalies Lydia W. and Sydney L. and goals from Bebe S. (1) and Lauren G. (2), the team emerged with a 3-2 finish.
Coming off that win, the Vikings returned to Carlin Field to compete against Bishop Hartley on Wednesday, August 30. Weaving through the Hawks’ defense, Academy maintained possession of the ball before making its way to the goal and capturing a 7-0 win with goals by Caroline A. (1), Carson K. (2), Katie N. (1), and Bebe S. (3), upping its record to 3-0.
The Maroon and Gray compete at home against Bishop Watterson on Wednesday, September 6, and against Bexley on Saturday, September 9.
