Boys baseball lost 3 more games this week, stretching its losing streak to 6. The team traveled to Worthington Christian on Monday, May 8, and to Jonathan Alder on Wednesday, May 10, and hosted Hamilton Township on Thursday, May 11. The match against East Knox on Saturday, May 13, was rained out.
Academy lost 6-8 to Worthington Christian after taking an early lead. At the end of the 1st inning, Worthington Christian was up 1-0. After runs from Joey G. and AJ B. in the top of the 2nd were followed by runs from Theo F., Dominic D., Dylan R., and Peter T. in the top of the 3rd, the score was 6-1 heading into the bottom of the 3rd. The Warriors managed only a single run in the bottom of the 3rd, and momentum seemed to favor the Vikings. But the 4th and 5th innings proved to be CA’s undoing, as Worthington Christian scored 3 runs in each of them while Academy scored none. This left the score 8-6 in the Warriors’ advantage, and the Vikes failed to reach home in the remaining 2 innings.
CA lost again in a shutout match versus Jonathan Alder 0-6. Academy could not muster anything at bat, and the Vikes combined for 6 hits across 7 innings. Meanwhile, pitchers Dominic and Rex W. threw for 11 hits and had only a single strikeout.
Hamilton Township demolished Academy in a blowout and shutout ending 12-0. The Vikings offense was even more meager than on Wednesday, and the boys only managed 3 hits. On the other side, the Rangers faced smooth sailing and scored in every inning.
Columbus Academy boys baseball is now 15-10 on the season.
