Varsity boys baseball went 2-1 this week with a 14-13 win at Buckeye Valley on Tuesday, April 18, a 1-2 loss hosting Buckeye Valley on Wednesday, April 19, and another victory 6-3 hosting Northmor on Saturday, April 22.
Away at Buckeye Valley, the Vikings took an early lead in the top of the 1st when Dylan R. singled, allowing Dominic D. to score. But Buckeye Valley evened the score in the bottom of the 1st, tying it 1-1. By the bottom of the 3rd, Academy had again pulled ahead 5-4 with runs from AJ B. and Luke B. in the 2nd and a home run from Peter T. in the 3rd, batting in himself and Joey G. Runs piled up on both sides, and by the bottom of the 5th, the score read 8-8. The Vikings’ play in the top of the 6th sealed the deal, with 6 runs. Although Buckeye Valley rallied in the bottom of the 6th and scored 5 runs, it was not enough to overcome its deficit.
Buckeye Valley avenged itself on Wednesday. Its pitchers dominated this match, and Dylan threw for 18 outs. Academy mustered up few results at bat, and the only score of the night came from Dominic batting in AJ B. in the bottom of the 7th.
Academy defeated Northmor on Saturday without much struggle, and it did not need to play the bottom of the 7th. Luke, Dominic, Theo, Joey, Dylan, Sunil, and Rex all recorded hits, and Harmon G. pitched for 8 strikeouts while Theo F. pitched for 5.
CA hosts Wellington on Monday, April 24, at 5:15 p.m. on Stahl Field.
