Varsity boys baseball seized four wins this week: three against Bexley, Grandview Heights, and Granville at home and one away at Grandview Heights.
The boys shutout Bexley on Monday, April 10, in a 2-0 win, with the starting lineup of AJ B. as third baseman, Luke B. as left fielder, Dominic D. as right fielder, Theo F. as center fielder, Harmon G. as first baseman, Joey G. as catcher, Dylan R. as pitcher, Peter T. as shortstop, and Rex W. as second baseman. Dylan pitched a complete game and struck out 11 players, while Luke and Theo both scored in the top of the sixth inning on a hit from Joey.
The boys slammed Grandview Heights 16-6 on Wednesday, April 12. Luke, Dominic, Harmon, Peter and Rex W. combined for 15 total hits, with Peter T. going 4-4 from the plate and tallying the most hits in the game.
Another blowout occurred on Thursday, April 13, as the Vikings defeated Granville 15-5. Theo F., Dominic, Dylan, Joey, AJ B., and Harmon all made it home for runs, and CA scored in every inning played, notching 4 runs in each of the first, second, and sixth innings, and 1 run in each of the third, fourth, and fifth innings.
Academy completed the week with a close match against Grandview Heights on Friday, April 14, that ended 5-2. The score was even at 2 apiece after seven innings, but in the top of the eighth CA took the lead as Theo found home plate on a single from Joey. Then, Rex hit a double that allowed Joey and Peter to score. The Vikes held Grandview to zero in the bottom of eighth with Peter as pitcher.
