On Friday, May 13, the cast of Mamma Mia returned to the stage after their final two performances were postponed due to an outbreak of Covid among the cast.
After their first performance on Thursday, April 28, the cast members were riding high after a stellar first show, but soon after several cast members and faculty advisors began testing positive for the virus, so director Ms. Eads postponed the musical’s last two runs.
Luckily, the the cast recovered and got back into the spirit of performing.
They embraced this challenge and performed the heartwarming story of Sophie (Maddie K), a soon-to-be bride who secretly invites Harry, Bill, and Sam, (played by Sean J, Raaghuv V, and Ryan R, respectively) from her mother Donna’s past (Alaina W), to her wedding, hoping to find her real dad.
The cast’s final two performances were a blast to watch: a testament to their resilience and passion as a cast.
Mamma Mia was a particularly meaningful production, as it was the first musical to take place since the Rent in 2019, and it was the final show with Ms. Brooks as itsmusic director.
The final performanceon Saturday, May 14, was dedicated to individual seniors and cast members who lettered in theatre and tech, including Vaanika J, Rehya S, Cassidy J, Raaghuv V, Mia S, Alaina W, and Lindsay S.
