On Monday, April 11, the Vikes raced at Big Walnut in the annual Red Edwards Relays, placing fifth in the 4×200 (1:41.06), fifth in the 800m sprint relay medley (1:55.01), fourth in the 4×400 (3:59.69), and 4th in the 4×800 (10:51.72). In the field events, Charlie H placed 6th in the high jump with a height of 5ft and tied with Jack DeL.  Ben A placed eighth in both shot put (30’10”) and discus (73’1”).

Two days later, on Wednesday, April 13, Academy hosted a meet against Amanda Clearcreek and Fairfield Union. 

In the sprinting events, Academy dominated. Gabe E (11.84), Carter J (12.00), E.J. J (12.16), Justin A (12.18), Carson J (12.36), and Jack DeL (12.40) swept first through sixth places, respectively in the 100m dash. Gabe E (24.51) and C James (24.62) took first and second in the 200m followed by Alek B ((25.36)) in fourth, E.J. J(25.63) in fifth, and Carson J (25.65) in seventh. In the 400m, Alek B took third with a time of 58.51, followed by Justin A in fourth (58.51), Michael R in fifth (1:02.43), and Isaac C in seventh (1:05.42). The team also took first in the 4×100 with a time of 46.06.

Dorian B took fourth in the 800 with a time of 2:36.86, and Elliott S sped to fourth in the 1600 with a blistering time of 5:18.43, following up the performance with a second place finish in the 3200 of 11:59.36. 

Max P ran to a fourth place finish in the 300m hurdles with a time of 50.55, followed by Stavros M in fifth (52.51). Justin A leapt to second in the long jump with a distance of 18’0.5”, with Ayden N finishing sixth (16’9”), and Abe U in eighth (15’5”). In the high jump, Heywood hopped to second place with a height of 5’0” and DeL finished in fourth with a height of 4’10”. Ben A took fifth in shot put and discus, with distances of 33’0” and 71’4”.

The team placed second at the meet.

Two days later, they closed out the week competing with a crowded field at the Pat McMillin Invitational hosted by Whitehall on Friday, April 15.  Gave E took sixth in the 100 with a time of 11.92. Kevin W took third in the 300 hurdles (47.29) followed by Gabe A in fourth (47.77). Jono H ran to an eighth place finish with a time of 5:15.05 in the mile. Justin A snagged second in the long jump with a distance of 18’6.5” followed by Ayden N in eighth with a distance of 16’4.5.” Ben A took eighth in shot put and discus, with distances of 35’3” and 92’0”, respectively. In relays, the team took third in the 4×100 and 4×200, sixth in the 800m sprint medley relay, fourth in the 4×400, and sixth in the 4×800.

The team races on Tuesday, April 19 away against Grove City Christian and Worthington Christian.

On Wednesday, April 20, the squad competes in the Gahanna Relays. The vikes will close out the week on Saturday, April 23, at the Bloom Carroll invitational.
