Help Replenish a Blessing Box

(Stephen Ma)

Do you want to bless others and yourself simultaneously? Do you want to earn ½-hour of the five required in-school service hours relatively easily? If you answered “yes” to either of these questions, volunteer to check and restock one of the three Service Board’s Blessing Boxes stationed throughout Gahanna.

Blessing Boxes are cabinets filled with free items for the community to take and replenish anonymously.  With the help of Makerspace teachers, Mr. Howard and Mr. Martin, Service Board members built and installed Blessing Boxes: one near the United Dairy Farmers on Morse Road, the second one close to Columbus Academy on Hamilton Road (in front of Fresh Thyme) and the third Blessing Box is outside the Mifflin Presbyterian Church (about a six-minute drive from CA).

If you would like to ensure others are blessed with food, personal care items, and clothing, please sign up using the link below. The SHACK near Ms. Bening’s office contains supplies that could be placed in any of the boxes, or students may supply their own non-perishable items like boxed food.  Upon leaving school, it only takes 15-20 minutes to replenish goods, remove perishable items, and reorganize one box.

If you cannot monitor either of the three Blessing Boxes, consider donating items like canned food, which can be deposited at the SHACK.

Our Service Board hopes you can make time to restock a Blessing Box after leaving campus or on the weekends because they need to be monitored weekly by a US student. Contact Shapers Mae Thomas or Arya Chabria with questions.
