Boys Lacrosse Back in Action

After a series of successful scrimmages, our boys lacrosse team was ready to get back on the field after a two-year hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Opening up the season on Thursday, April 8, at Westerville Central, the Vikes showed they were more than ready to take on a tough opponent. The first half was back and forth, but a hat trick by junior Zach White, and a goal apiece for fellow juniors Henry Rubey, Davey Agrawal, and Drake Bellisari put CA up 6-5. After the short break, our boys hit their stride, with junior Jake Carlin going 19/21 on faceoffs and adding two goals to the scoreboard. And that was not all. White picked up four assists, while Agrawal added three goals and an assist to his stats. Bellisari scored again for a total of two goals, and Kyle Carlin’22 and Rubey both finished the game with a goal and an assist. The Warhawks crumbled under the Vikings’ offensive onslaught, with junior Kyle Bernstorf’s’ steady presence in goal, saving 10, left the team confident for the season ahead.

Riding high from the previous game, CA looked to take on Olentangy Berlin at home on Saturday, April 10. Playing through the rain, the Vikes were up at halftime, 6-3, but the Bears weren’t done yet. Berlin came back with vengeance in the second half, forcing a triple overtime that ended in an 8-9 loss for our boys. Despite the loss, there was phenomenal effort and offensive play, as White lead the pack with four goals and three assists. Agrawal also notched two, while Bellisari got a goal and assist and senior Xander Wood added another to the score.

These exciting results leave Academy ready for the remainder of the season, as the team prepares to take on Bexley away in a rivalry game on Tuesday, April 13.

Our boys will then host St. Charles on Thursday, April 15, before finishing off the week with a game against Elder High School on Saturday, April 17, at home.
