Academy’s ice hockey team dedicated this week to its Seniors. Luke Budzik, Max Crane, Patrick Daly, Andrew Golden, Campbell Gwin, Suzy L’Hommedieu, Nate Rausch, and Xander Wood were celebrated from January 19 through January 22, with the team’s twitter account honoring two seniors per day.

Academy kicked off the weekend on Friday, January 22 against DeSales, and goals from Andrew Zaki’22 (1), Jake Carlin’22 (1), and Adam Bradley’23 (2) lifted the Vikes to a solid 4-1 victory against the Stallions.

Then against Bishop Watterson on Saturday, January 23, goals from Carlin (1) and Gwin (2) were not enough to avenge the team’s tough loss versus Bishop Watterson on January 17, with the game ending in a 3-6 defeat to the eagles.

On Sunday, January 24, Academy played its final game of the weekend and celebrated its Senior Morning against Athens. Halfway through the first, Gwin and Carlin scored back-to-back unassisted goals to open the scoring. Halfway through the second, Gwin added a third to the Vikes’s total, but Athens quickly made up for it with its first goal of the day. Shortly after, Athens added another, but Gwin stopped any hope of a comeback with his third goal of the match, keeping Academy ahead 4-2. Finally in the third, Rausch added a fifth to seal win for the Vikes.

The team plays its next game at 8 PM against Olentangy Berlin on Saturday, January 29 at Chiller Easton.
