The Columbus Academy boys swim team fell 74-95 to Gahanna Lincoln on Friday, January 15 but came back strong on Saturday, January 16, to beat Grandview Heights 119-39 at home.

Sophomores Luke Boltz and Gavin Lewis along with juniors Cyrus Hannallah and Drake Bellisari kicked off the meet against the Lions and secured silver in the 200 medley relay. Boltz dominated in the 200 and 500 freestyle, while Lewis earned first in the 200 IM and 100 free.

Bellisari nabbed second in both the 100 butterfly and 50 freestyle and Alek Balaloski’23  placed third at 24.34. 

Balaloski lead the 200 freestyle relay to victory with Hannallah, Rowan Hennessey’21, and Max Popp’22. Hannallah’s winning streak, secured gold in the 100 breaststroke by over 5 seconds.

Baloski, Bellisari, Boltz, and Lewis took second in the 400 freestyle relay.

The Aquavikes had another strong showing against Grandview Heights on Saturday, January 16, placing first and second in the 200 medley and 400 freestyle relays. 

Our boys widened the gap further during the 200 freestyle, in which Lewis, Jono Hammond’23, and Hannallah finished first, second, and third, respectively.

Hennessey secured first in the 50 free, with Greyson Thomas’24 close behind in second place.

Boltz, Cy Richardson’22, and Raaghuv Vazirani’22 continued the trend into the 100 butterfly, taking the respective top three spots just as Hannallah, Popp, and Hammond did later in the 100 breaststroke.

Balaloski, Bellisari, Boltz, and Lewis prevailed in the 100 backstroke and the 200 freestyle relay, nabbing gold in both races. 

Lewis brought it home with two victories in the 200 and 500 freestyle.

The Vikes host Wellington and Hartley on Tuesday, January 19, before facing Hayes and Pickerington North at home on Friday, January 22, and Saturday, January 23, respectively.
