Our girls started off the postseason facing off against Madison Plains on Monday, October 19, on Hondros. The sixth-seeded Vikes were fired up for the first round and came out strong, with goals by Zoya Arnold’24, sophomores Claire Cahall and Jasmine Evans, junior Diana Ulbrich, and senior Katie Schiano.
Aniah Crockett’22 led the team in goals, notching two for the Vikings. CA gave the Golden Eagles no chance to get in the game, as junior goalkeeper Sophie Spolter added another shutout to her record. Our girls advanced to the second round with a 7-0 win.
Next up was an away rematch against the second-seeded CSG, who the Vikes fell to 2-0 in regular season. Looking for revenge, our girls stepped onto the field on Saturday, October 24, ready to take down CSG on their turf. The game was a back-and-forth affair, with both teams having opportunities but neither knocking the ball into the net.
Our girls’ defense held down the fort and helped drive the game into double-overtime, during which Ulbrich lasered a ball past the Unicorns goalkeeper, earning the Vikes a 1-0 victory and a pass to the third round.
