COVID has not stopped Service Board from offering more volunteer opportunities. It wants to ensure US students can meet their service hours graduation requirement, but more importantly, help to people in need during these uncertain times.
Do you have gently used clothing you want to share with other CA students? Service Board has created a new event for your clothes called “Shopping at The Clothing Exchange Closet” (CExC). Upper School students will shop on behalf of their parents, who, because of Covid-19, aren’t permitted in the school. After Academy families complete an online request form and send it through PACA, students will go to the CExC and fill those requests. Lower School teacher, Sarah Hansen, will then deliver the clothes to the corresponding classrooms.
You can donate your outgrown spirit wear or any type of Academy clothing to CExC by placing it in the box outside Dr. Bundy’s room (A114) or the 24/7 location outside the Middle School near the bus pick-up or the location near the LS Nurses’ Office. If you want to help fill clothing requests, please sign up outside The SHACK.
If you are at school this Tuesday, October 6 (Maroon Day) and have time during Blocks 4 or 5, consider participating in Tidy up Tuesday. Sign up is also outside The SHACK.
Although the Fall Blood Drive will not be held at school this year, Service Board hopes members of the Academy Community will still donate blood. Two upcoming blood drives will be held near school. On October 14, from 10:30 a.m – 4:30 p.m., you can donate at Mount Carmel Surgical Hospital in New Albany. The following day, donations will be held at Mifflin Presbyterian Church in Gahanna.
If you can’t donate blood, you can always volunteer. Please look for the flyers with additional information.
Experience the joy of volunteering!
