The girl’s tennis team hosted Walsh High school last Saturday (9/15) in a down-to-the-wire match. It was essential for the girls to get a win, considering Walsh is a Division 1 team and Academy is Division 2.
Performances from seniors Meera Gopinath,Deepa Manda, and Neela Nataraj were impressive. Junior, Hannah Wexner, also had an outstanding showing. Katherine Guan’16 and Makela Hughes’16 also put together fabulous single results.
Ultimately, the deciding factor was sophomore Andrea Ballinger’s actions. It came down to the 5th match when the score was tied 2-2. Ballinger had to secure the victory for the Vikings to win, and she prevailed after going into a third set, allowing the Vikings an awesome celebration.
