In a week of triumph for Academy sports, the girls soccer team was no exception, winning the program’s first regional title and advancing to the state semifinals.

The first match was on Tuesday, October 29, in a bout with Lynchburg-Clay. Our girls were on the offensive half for the majority of the game, but could not convert the many shots on goal into points. Lynchburg’s goalie, Smith, recorded an astounding eleven saves, before Aniah Crockett’22 scored.

The Vikings traveled to Coshocton for the regional final on Saturday, November 2, against Bishop Rosecrans. The seniors led the team to victory, with Annalise Grammel and Emma Belford each scoring in the first half to defeat Rosecrans 2-0. The excitement was palpable, as the victory not only earned the Vikes a state semifinal berth, but also marked the furthest a CA girls soccer team has ever gotten in postseason. This is a history-making feat for our girls, and according to Grammel they “can’t wait for more.”

Cincinnati Country Day is next on the list, as Academy will take them on in the state semifinal on Tuesday, November 5, at Xenia high school.
