On Wednesday, May 8 and Friday, May 10, the Columbus Academy boys track team faced off at Whitehall against Bexley, Grandview Heights, Whitehall-Yearling, and Worthington Christian for the MSL title.
Getting the ball rolling, senior Harry Mills sprinted to first and second place finishes in the 100 and 200, with junior Ezra Johnson close behind in fourth for the 200. In the 400, sophomore Sam Huyghe flew to a second place finish in a talented field.
Luke Nester’21, Liam McCann’19, and Charlie Sabgir’20 raced to first, second, and fourth place finishes in the 1600, 800, and 3200, with Nester running a personal best of 4:28 in the mile.
Ethan Nankervis’19, Vaughn Armour’21, Manny Eribo’21, and Durell Moultrie’21 worked together for a fifth place finish in the 4×100, while Eribo, Johnson, Huyghe, and Mills sprinted to a second place finish in the 4×200. Our boys relays continued to impress, as Johnson, Huyghe, and Mills collaborated with Nester to win the 4×400, and Huyghe, McCann, Nester, and Sabgir rounded out the podium in third in the 4×800.
The Vikings field events shined just as bright as our runners did. Senior Caleb Crawley threw to first and second place finishes in discus and shot put, while senior Alex McClellan soared to a seventh place finish in high jump, and he and Moultrie leapt to sixth and fifth in the long jump.
