This past Wednesday, February 6, the Service Board hosted its annual event dedicated to the work of our faculty and staff, former and present, here at Columbus Academy.
Jenny L’Hommedieu’19 and Abigail Freytag’20 coordinated the day with Service Board advisor, Mrs. Bening, to plan our “Faculty and Staff Appreciation Day, which started at 8:00am (food prepared, tables set, flowers and dedications placed) to 2:15pm.
This traditional event was open to all faculty and staff. Service board members hosted a significant turnout in the Athletic Lobby entrance as teachers, security officers, dining staff, and maintenance staff enjoyed catered Italian dishes and desserts, including the favorite cake from Golden Delight.
Annette Kuss was one of the many retired Vikings who joined us for the day. Kuss retired from Academy in 2011 after 25 years of teaching in the Lower School and coaching upper shool tennis and golf.
Also in attendance was Academy’s well-known Dorothy Dell, our former long-time coordinator of school books and supplies.
Student letters to faculty and staff added a special touch of thanks. And, of course, each honorees’ favorite candy bar!
