On Saturday, October 20, Columbus Academy visited Hilliard Darby to compete in the District meet.
On a day with perfect running conditions, the Vikes competed against nine other teams on an ideal course.
The boys squad ran well-only falling to powerhouse Fredericktown, enough to push the team through to regionals. The second place finish out of ten teams, was led by Liam McCann’19, taking 6th. Junior Charlie Sabgir rounded out the top 10, placing 10th.
Additionally, the Vikes had an impressive day for personal bests, with three runners, Jake Huddleston’21, Charlie Yaw’20, and Calvin Wade’21, all beating their previous best times by close to twenty seconds.
The girls team ran one of its best collective meets of the year, earning earning fourth out of the ten teams competing. The group was led by its stellar duo of junior Annalise Grammel and sophomore Regan Cornelius. The two placed 2nd and 4th, respectively.
Senior Ryan Milbourne also had a strong showing, placing 38th and setting a personal record.
The teams look ahead to regionals in the coming week hosted by Pickerington North on Saturday, October 27.
