Our Spiking Vikings face Westerville. (Lily Plaugher’21)
Coming into the week with a 9-4 record, two opportunities to increase the Vikes’ standing were more than welcome to them. Academy played Westerville North on Monday, September 24, and Whitehall-Yearling on Wednesday, September 26.
The team faced against Westerville at home in the Mackenzie Gym and put up as much of a fight as possible but were defeated 3-1. Despite the loss, many Academy players described the match as a fun one, with lots of outstanding points from both teams.
After a quick turnaround, the Vikings hosted Whitehall-Yearling and were determined to win. Although the Rams have traditionally bested CA, the Vikes surged to a swift 3-set victory.
Next week, our girls play 3 games. On Tuesday, October 2, the Vike host Worthington Christian then travel to Bexley on Thursday, October 4 for their rivalry game of the year. The Spiking Vikings head to Bishop Watterson on Saturday, October 6, for a double header against the Eagles and Hathaway Brown.
Rounding out this week with a 11-4 record is a great position for our girls as the end of the season draws near.
