It was another big week for the CA girls tennis team as the Vikings won their three matches. Academy proved once again why it is a top team in the state, currently sitting at 9-0 so far.
The Vikes steamrolled Whitehall on Tuesday, September 11, with a score of 5-0. This was a key win in the Mid-State League that puts CA in a great position to capture the league title very soon.
On Wednesday, September 12, CA took on the Dublin Coffman Shamrocks. Even though Coffman is known as a Division 1 powerhouse in tennis, the Vikes cruised to a 4-1 victory, only dropping the second doubles court.
The Vikings traveled to Dublin Jerome (last year’s Division 1 state runner-up), on Thursday, September 13. This was easily the Vikes’ biggest match so far, more than ready to defend their win streak against such a challenging opponent. CA prevailed 3-2 overall, earning wins from the first singles court and both doubles courts. Sydni Ratliff’21 sailed by her opponent with a 6-1, 6-0 victory in singles. Both doubles’ courts eked out two three-set matches that clinched a CA victory.
The Vikes take on Wellington on Monday, September 17, and hosts Bexley on Thursday, September 20.
