After three intense games this week, Academy’s field hockey team has raised its record to 8-0 in the regular season. In addition to this already incredible feat, no team has managed to put a shot in through Academy’s rigid defense as our girls’ scoring margin approaches the triple digits.

The Vikes started their week at home as they faced off against Bishop Hartley on Tuesday, September 11. The Hawks were no match for the Vikings, and CA swiftly overpowered its opponent to win 10-0.

Academy hit the road to play Olentangy Liberty on Thursday, September 13. Even in unfamiliar territory, the Vikes powered through their opponents and won 9-0.

Taking a break from season gameplay, our girls met up with the Ellis School of Pittsburgh to scrimmage during CA’s Community Day on Saturday, September 15. Although the Vikes initially had a little trouble assessing the Tigers’ play style, they quickly adapted and dominated offensively. Senior Avie Smith put in the Vikes’ first goal after 5 minutes of play, but Academy’s opponents fought back. Academy went on the defensive, and after a smooth save by Alex Phelps’20, our girls were back on track to score 2 more goals by Carolyn Bowman’19 by the end of the first half. After 3 more goals by seniors Jenny L’Hommedieu, Mercedes Crestanello and Bowman, play slowed down and Academy focused on protecting its own goal more. The VIkings ended the game with a 6-0 lead over another undefeated school, cementing their status as a dominant program, even across state lines.

CA hosts three teams next week: CSG on Tuesday, September 18, Hudson on Friday, September 21 and Ursuline Academy on Saturday, September 22.
