The CA boys track team kicked off its postseason run with a bang, grabbing second place in the district meet at Watkins Memorial on Tuesday, May 15, Thursday, May 17, and Saturday, May 19. The Vikings racked up 128 points, as several runners qualified for regionals with top-four finishes.
Standout senior Karibi Hart dazzled, winning both the 100 and 200 with times of 10.97 seconds and 22.14 seconds, respectively. Sophomore Sam Massick advanced in the 100 as well, snagging fourth with a time of 11.54.
Seniors Nick Watson and Angus Soderberg put on a show in the 800, with Watson taking first in a time of 1:59.99, and Soderberg nabbing third in 2:01.25.
Academy’s distance specialists continued their streak of strong performances, with senior Nick Robie and junior Liam McCann earning first and fourth in the mile with times of 4:31.76 and 4:43.61, respectively. In addition, freshman Luke Nester flew around the track in the two mile, the longest event of the meet. He snatched fourth with a time of 10:14.36.
The Vikes were dominant in the relays, securing victories in the 4×100, 4×400, and 4×800. CA also seized second in the 4×200.
The boys will travel to Fairfield Union for the regional meet on Wednesday, May 23, and Friday, May 25.
