Girls Lacrosse Dominates on Senior Night

Coming off consecutive losses, the Academy girls lacrosse squad had a chance to bounce back as it hosted CSG on Thursday, May 3. The Vikings did exactly that, trouncing the Unicorns 16-6.

With a downpour of rain on hand, CA honored seniors Kelley Antoine and Shenique Lewis before the contest. The duo has been instrumental in the Vikes’ success over the past four years.

Academy used its energy from the pre-game festivities and raced ahead to a 6-1 lead at the break. CSG had been thoroughly outplayed on both sides of the field, but perhaps the most glaring discrepancy was that the Vikings had attempted nine more shots on goal.

The second half spelled more trouble for the Unicorns, as CA refused to step off the gas and doubled its advantage before the final horn. Junior Sydney Hill spearheaded the offensive attack with four goals, and sophomore Kiersten Thomassey added three of her own.

The Vikes will wrap up regular season play as they travel to Worthington Kilbourne on Tuesday, May 8 before hosting Olentangy Orange on Friday, May 11. The most difficult stretch of the season is on the horizon for Academy, but the girls seem ready for the challenge.
