The CA girls swim team launched into its stellar week on Tuesday, January 23, with Senior Night against DeSales and Madison Christian. The three seniors honored were Michalea Lai, Jane Li, and Esther Lawrence. The Academy swimmers fed off the energy from the largest student section of the year and nailed down another win.

The girls controlled the meet from start to finish. Sophomore Rachel Raque, juniors Sarah Cabre and Inji Kang, and Li all earned individual victories, and the Vikes also took first place in the 200 medley and 400 free relays.

Lawrence, a member of the dive team, added her own flair to the start of the 200 free relay, when she hurled into a front flip at sound of the start before beginning her swim.

Finishing with an overall score of 94 points, the girls beat DeSales by 31 points and Madison Christian by 84.

The Vikes rolled into MSLs on Saturday, January 27, ready to dominate at their home pool. As the defending champions for three years straight, Academy delivered, adding a fifth Mid-State League victory to its streak.

Lawrence also participated in MSLs earlier in the week, on Thursday, January 25, and demolished all of her competition. She not only matched her swim teammates with a fourth consecutive MSL title but also shattered the meet record.

The girls head into JV Championships at CSG on Saturday, February 3, eyeing another win.
