Following the abbreviated school day due to the PSAT, Academy held its first Blood Drive of the year on Wednesday, October 11. The athletic lobby was filled with various medical equipment, along with refreshments for the donors. Students and faculty alike arrived to contribute blood in the effort to save lives across central Ohio.
Academy’s Service Board organized event and coordinated with the American Red Cross to plan a successful Blood Drive. Additionally, many student volunteers helped the drive run smoothly, providing assistance where necessary.
Twenty-four donors gave 20 total units of blood. Each unit has the potential to save three lives in the central Ohio region. Academy’s continued effort to donate blood has earned it first place in its division for high school blood drives in 2016-17. The school will try to maintain this achievement in the coming years.
Academy’s next blood drive is scheduled for January 17, 2018. As always, the more volunteers to donate, the more lives that are saved!
