Winning has been familiar, thus far, to Academy’s 2017 golf team. It has had a superb season, and the Vikes are not slowing down.
Academy traveled to Clover Valley on Tuesday, September 19, to take on Marysville in a showdown with the Monarchs. The Vikes took the victory with ease, winning 153-170. Senior co-captain Sam Vogel led the charge with a score of 35 and was an individual medalist.
With this win, the Vikes rolled into the postseason MSL tournament on Wednesday, September 20. The boys knew a strong performance in this tournament would be a great confidence booster for them heading into districts.
Just barely edged out by Bexley, CA finished the tournament in second place. Despite the narrow loss, the Vikings had already claimed victories in both the preseason and midseason MSL tournaments, so Academy was crowned overall MSL champions.
The Vikes will travel to Oak Haven Golf Course on Tuesday, September 26, as the sectional tournament begins.
