It was a short week for the Columbus Academy girls volleyball team, with only two matches.

On Tuesday, September 12, the Vikes took on London in a Mid-State League match-up. Academy had stumbled in recent matches, so the team looked to rebound on its home court. Despite their great effort, the struggles continued for the Vikes as the Red Raiders took advantage early and didn’t look back.The Vikings lost in three sets, 25-17, 25-10, 25-10. 

On Saturday, September 16, Academy had another match against North Ridge. 

The Vikings got off to a slow start, losing the first set 25-11. Academy fought back during the second set. But it wasn’t enough. North Ridge took it 25-20. Unable to get anything going in the third set, The Vikes finished with a loss of 25-16.

The Vikes have hit a rough patch over their last four matches, but the team’s confidence is not lacking. Senior captain Khloe Dubenion said, “Even though we lost our games this week, we still have a lot of games left to bounce back and get our record back up to .500.”

Academy looks to get back on track with matches against Grandview and on Monday, September 18 and on Tuesday, September 19, its big rival, Bexley.
