After losing in a tough battle to Dublin Scioto in the third round of the Division II tournament last season, the CA boys lacrosse team is hungry to win it all this year.
Despite finishing with a 9-7 record against a tough schedule in 2016, the Vikings are ready for even more success. Losing six valuable seniors and their head coach will hurt, but the Vikes look ready to reload.
Jon Ewert, who served as an assistant last year, will take over the head coaching job, and a new crop of young talent will soften the blow. Led by new senior captains Roman Bellisari, Anthony Sugar, and Kyle Vorys, Academy seems primed to make a deep playoff run.
The Vikings traveled down to Florida over spring break to play with extremely talented competition. They suffered a 19-3 loss to one of the best teams in Florida, Oak Hall, but having experience playing against a great team will prove to be valuable for the Vikes.
CA will open its season at home on Thursday, March 30, in a showdown with the Hilliard Darby Panthers.
