As the 2017 tennis season begins for the boys, success is always a goal.
The girls won a state title in 2008 and were runners up in 2007, 2012, and 2014.
The boys have won state titles in 2008, 2009, and 2010. And the boys hope to replicate these victories this season.
Austin Lawrence is a tremendous all-around player who could potentially win states. Hirsh Hede’16 and Lawrence placed second in the state doubles tournament last year.
Michael Qi’17 played singles and placed fourth in the 2016 sectional tournament.
Senior Eric Min will be an ardent player but without his former teammate Sam Vogel, who is out with a shoulder injury.
Sid Menon, whose packed schedule as class president and a section editor for The Academy Life is hoping to make positive impacts this season.
Suriya Sundaram’19 will begin playing first doubles.
Rhian Seneviratne’20 will start playing doubles along with Sundaram. This could be a powerful doubles pairing.
