Girls Basketball Update

Girls basketball closed out the regular season this week with games against CSG and Bexley. Although this year threw challenges at the team, the girls fought tooth and nail to the end.

On Tuesday, February 7, the varsity Vikes opposed the Unicorns for the first time this season. The team blasted off to a electrifying start as it stayed neck and neck with CSG for the first half. Their motto, ‘together,’ fueled the girls to work as one cohesive unit and snatch the lead by halftime. Despite their strength early on, the game deteriorated in the second half when the Unicorns pulled ahead to put the final score at 40-25.

The Vikings were ready for a win when they travelled to face Bexley on Friday, February 10. Facing the crowds that came for the Lions’ Senior Night, our girls gave them cause to worry. Both teams were evenly matched, and the Vikings led 8-7 at the half. However, a strong retaliation from Bexley and a rough third quarter led to the Lions winning 39-22.

Next week, the Vikes take a week off to prepare for Sectionals. Following the week of practice, the team kicks off their post-season with an opening round tournament game at Africentric School on Tuesday, February 21.
