At the MSL meet Saturday January 28, Academy broke six records, with both the girl and boys teams reaching first place.
The meet started out with an intense 200-yard medley relay. With a 1:37.22, Max Dreisbach ’18, Nate Goldfarb’17, Jacob Eismann’19, Jack Campbell’19, shattered the pool record as good competition and excitement filled the air.
In the 500-free, Dreisbach was ready to race the clock. The crowd roared as he approached his 20th lap. He touched the wall at 4:42.58, beating the 36-year old pool record by 5 seconds!
Next, Eismann beat the now previous record of 52.55 in the 100 backstroke with a time of 51.75.
The 100-breast stroke record for the boys was also broken by Nate Goldfarb’17, who stole the school record and meet record with a time of 58.67.
Yet the boys weren’t the only ones breaking MSL records.
Audrey Grammel’17 had staggering competition in the 100-breaststroke. She competed phenomenally and broke the school record for a second time. Earlier this season, she crushed the previous record holder with a time of 1:06.03. On Saturday, she broke her own record with a new time of 1:05.79.
The Vikings finally went out with a bang when the boys 400-yard freestyle, with Dylan Warren’17, Dreisbach, Eismann, and Mike DeAscentis’20, destroyed the pool record, finishing at 3:16.26.
The Aqua Vikes are on the road to an outstanding post season. Goldfarb says, “The team is hoping to bring Academy its first swimming state title. These wins will help us get there.”
Go Jacob!
