For both the boys and girls bowling teams at Academy, this last week was a busy one. Both teams bowled four matches over four days, facing Northland, Columbus International, Linden-McKinley, and Bishop Hartley.
The boys went 2-2, picking up victories over Columbus International and Linden-McKinley. Senior captain Nick Smith and seniors Hamza Kashubeck, Jacob Taub, Tyler Whitt, and junior Michael Reagan had good showings. The Vikings lost to Northland 1936 -1835, beat Columbus International 1705-1094, beat Linden-McKinley 1689-1363, and lost to Bishop Hartley 1811-1525.
The girls’ team picked up their first victory of the season on Thursday, beating Linden-Mckinley by a score of 991-689. The girls were led by juniors Abby Jeffers and Izzy Betting and senior Maggie McCann. The girls lost the others matches to Northland 1544-1036, International 1142-1002, and Hartley 1325-804.
Getting the first win of the season is always a great feeling, and the girls were all excited. Jeffers said, “I was really proud of all of the other girls on our team. We’ve improved a lot since the beginning of the season.”
Both teams have their next match on Friday, January 27, against Mifflin at 4:00pm at HP Lanes.
