Field Hockey Crushes First Round Opponent

After its undefeated regular season, the field hockey team entered the postseason ranked “first”  in the tournament bracket. When the Vikes faced the 17th seed, Lancaster, on Wednesday, October 19, our girls proved that they deserved that number 1 spot.

During Wednesday’s game, Mercedes Crestanello’19 scored 3 goals, Baylee Mueller’17 and Carolyn Bowman’19 scored 2 each, and Alaina Gwin’17 and Avie Smith’19 bagged 1 apiece.

Crestanello said, “We had a really strong passing game, and we were able to maintain the ball on their side for the majority of it. We played hard, like it was our last game.”

Academy’s defense was truly its strongest, never allowing an opportunity for Lancaster to score.

The Vikings will advance to play Olentangy Orange at home on Tuesday, October 25.

If they beat Orange, the Vikes will play Thomas Worthington or Worthington Kilbourne at Olentangy Liberty on Saturday, October 29.
