Volleyball Ends In Disappointment

Volleyball suffered a season-ending loss on Tuesday, October 20, falling 3-0 to the Centerburg Trojans. The Vikes final record is 9-14 (7-9 in CBL play).

The Trojans jumped out on the Vikings early, winning the first set 25-17, and then capturing the second and third 25-8.

The Vikes have had a relatively disappointing season, with high expectations and a talented roster at hand, but failing to find a rhythm as the season progressed. However, their record does not tell the full story of their team, as they played a much more challenging schedule than most teams play, going against high-level teams out of their division. The CBL also brings tough teams into the competition, with more experienced players compared to the young Vikings squad.

Nour S. said, “This season taught me that success isn’t always measured by wins and losses. Although we didn’t have the record we wanted, the hard work and dedication put in deserved more than what our record showed. Throughout the season, every girl continued to show grit, determination, and a willingness to improve. This team was definitely special, and I think we always caught people by surprise with how hard we fought. I couldn’t have asked for a better group of girls to finish my high school volleyball career with.”

The underclassmen have big shoes to fill, as the team loses valuable seniors in Nour and Captain Kyndal S.

Juniors Sammie W. and Ellie C. will look to step up and hopefully lead the Vikings to a positive record and maybe even a league title.
